Did you know? You don’t have to stop training because of an injury.
If you’ve had surgery or are wearing a cast (plaster) on one arm or leg, you can often continue training safely with the rest of your body.
This is possible because of a powerful process in the body known as cross education.
What is cross education?
When you train one side of your body, your brain activates both sides even the one that isn’t moving. As a result, strength signals are still sent to the immobilized limb. This helps reduce strength loss and keeps the injured side more prepared for recovery.
Why is this important?
Research shows that cross education can help:
- Maintain strength in the injured or immobilized limb
- Support a smoother and faster return to full training
What should you do?
Always follow your doctor’s and coach’s recommendations, but remember that smart, modified training can be a valuable part of recovery.
