February is American Heart Month

Hello, Riverdale Y Fitness Community!

Did you know February is American Heart Month? As we step into February, a month dedicated to matters of the heart, we aim to raise awareness about heart health. Since 1950, heart disease has held its position as the leading cause of death in the United States, as reported by the CDC.

The contributing factors are:

  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Smoking
  • Diabetes
  • Overweight/obesity
  • Unhealthy diet
  • Physical inactivity
  • Excessive alcohol use

We can take action to protect ourselves against heart disease. This month, our entire fitness department staff is dedicated to helping you enhance your heart health. We encourage you to focus on exercise, adopt a better diet, increase physical activity, and join our engaging fitness classes. If you’re unsure where to start or need assistance, our Fitness Professionals are here for you.
