It is customary to visit the graves of loved ones during the High Holiday season, but many New Yorkers are unable to get to the cemetery easily. The Riverdale Y is organizing visits to Jewish cemeteries in Queens, Long Island, and New Jersey between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur.
You must be a member of New Beginnings, the Riverdale Y’s Older Adult Center, in order to participate. The cost for each cemetery visiting day is $25 per person per day. A bagged lunch will be provided.
Rabbi Scott Kalmikoff, Director of Community Engagement at Riverdale Y, will accompany us on all trips and will be available to recite prayers and for pastoral care.
A maximum of 13 seats are available per day. Registration is on a first come, first served basis and closes on September 8th.
