Position Title: Kitchen Assistant

Salary: $32,834.64 per year
Position Summary:
The Kitchen Assistant provides support in food preparation, service, and cleanup within our Older Adult Center, under the supervision of the Cook or Kitchen Administrator. This is a salaried, part-time, union position offering an opportunity to contribute to the efficient operation of the center’s kitchen while providing quality service to our older adult community members.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in food preparation and food service under the direction of the Head Chef.
- Unpack, move, and store food and supplies in accordance with food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Support inventory management and maintain organized food storage areas.
- Clean dining areas, kitchen surfaces, cupboards, shelves, racks, cooking equipment, refrigeration units, dishes, and utensils.
- Perform cleaning of large and small appliances and kitchen equipment, ensuring all surfaces are sanitized and properly maintained.
- Wash pots and pans, and ensure proper storage in a clean, sanitary, and orderly manner.
- Lift and move items weighing between 25 to 50 pounds as needed.
- Assist with other tasks as directed by the Head Chef or Senior Center Director.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Physical stamina to perform various kitchen tasks.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing between 25 to 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.
