We grew up at Riverdale Y, now we’re graduating and giving back

Dear Friends of the Riverdale Y,

Our names are Jacob and Ayelet. We are high school seniors who’ve had the privilege—as decade-long members of the Riverdale Rising Stars theater program—of growing up on Riverdale Y’s stage.

The Rising Stars is not simply a program; under the superb leadership of Laurie Walton, Riverdale Rising Stars has become a second home to so many, including ourselves. This is where we’ve grown up, where we’ve come out of our shells, and where we’ve been surrounded by people who celebrate us for being exactly who we are. It’s where we’ve learned to exert ourselves past our perceived limits and where we’ve worked side by side with some of our closest friends to create beautiful, meaningful, joyful theater.

We’re reaching out today to spread the word about the Riverdale Y’s Broadway Gala on June 22, an annual event that raises money to support our beloved program. This year, the two of us have the honor of performing in Riverdale Y’s gala presentation of Urinetown: the Musical alongside other Riverdale Rising Stars members and Broadway stars alike. We sincerely hope that you can attend this hilarious, Broadway-quality production, the proceeds from which will go towards the much-needed replacement of our theater’s seats, flooring, and lighting. With this renovation, we will ensure that the Rising Stars program continues to thrive for years to come.

Thank you so much for supporting Riverdale Y, the arts, and the next generation of performers. We can’t wait to share this special night with you!

With gratitude,
Jacob and Ayelet
