In recognition of National Volunteer Appreciation Month this April, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the remarkable contributions made by our volunteers. As the Director of Volunteer Services for Riverdale Y, I am proud to share that over 300 volunteers have dedicated their time and effort to our mission of enriching the lives of others in the past year.
To celebrate and thank our volunteers for their dedication, we have planned a series of special events and intergenerational activities.
We have scheduled three events to honor our volunteers:
- April 7th, 1:00 pm – 2 pm: A family-friendly celebration, followed by a workday with Macauley Honor Students.
- April 11th, 9:30 am – 10:30 am: A mid-morning celebration, perfect for those who visit the center during weekdays.
- April 18th, 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm: An afternoon celebration, ideal for volunteers who are still in school.
In addition to these events, we invite you to participate in an intergenerational activity of your choice. These activities provide young adults with the opportunity to learn from and engage with our volunteers, fostering meaningful connections and making a difference in our community:
- April 12th: Winston Prep teens with learning differences will join us for conversations and lunch, promoting social interaction and combating loneliness.
- April 16th: Horace Mann 11th graders will collaborate with volunteers to create Surgi Dolls for Project Sunshine, a non-profit supporting sick children in hospitals through play, while discussing themes of resilience and health & wellness.
- April 19th: Ethical Studies Fieldston School students will work alongside volunteers to pack hygiene kits and discuss equitable health to support Alliance for Positive Change, a non-profit aiding marginalized communities affected by HIV/AIDS.
To RSVP for any of these events or activities, please reach out to me in person, call me at 347-913-4396, or email me at anyashina@riverdaley.org.
Once again, thank you for your invaluable service and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. I eagerly look forward to celebrating with you and expressing my appreciation in person.
Warm Regards,
Alexandra Nyashina
