Dear Riverdale Y Community Members:
Since the attacks in Israel began and with increased concerns about security particularly in the next few days, we are taking proactive steps that are both visible and not visible to community members. While there are no known credible threats against Jewish institutions in New York, we remain on high alert and in communication with law enforcement at the federal, state and local level.
Through our close relationships with the 50th precinct and local government officials, we have secured police presence onsite at the Y at various times throughout our hours of operation.
We implement our policies and procedures through the assistance of our professional security consultants at the Community Security Initiative (CSI), which works closely with Jewish day schools, synagogues, JCCs, and other faith-based organizations in New York City. CSI is in continuous contact with the NYPD, FBI, and other agencies to track suspicious activity.
We are thankful to all of our community members, staff and volunteers for complying with our safety procedures.
