MLK Day of Service at Riverdale Y:
54 Miles to Impact - 54 Acts of Kindness

Monday, January 20, 2025

In 1965, organizers walked 54 miles from Selma to Montgomery for racial justice...

This year, we're preparing 20,000 meals, packing thousands of hygiene kits, and raising $54,000 to support communities in need in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s incredible legacy.

Two ways for you to be part of the movement:

Donate

Give $54 in honor of the 54 miles Martin Luther King Jr walked and as a symbol of triple chai, a triple life commemoration, or any amount that feels right to you.

Volunteer

Join us to prepare meal kits for families in need across the country and around the world, meet other civic-minded members of our community, and learn about King’s enduring legacy.

We’re full for this year! You can still participating by donating, dropping off clothes, or giving blood.  We also have volunteer opportunities throughout the year that you can be part of.

Collect

We are collecting new and gently used winter wear: coats, sweaters, hats, scarves, new socks and new underwear.

Drop-off at the welcome desk through January 19 or bring with you to MLK Day of Services on January 20.

Give Blood

As part of the MLK Day of Service, we are hosting a blood drive with our partners at New York Blood Center the day before, on January 19.
