When Service becomes a Story
On May 2, Riverdale Y had the privilege of hosting over 160 students and faculty from Riverdale Country School for a service day that spoke volumes—about compassion, responsibility, and the kind of values that truly shape a community.
Together, students and teachers assembled more than 2,000 care packages for mothers in temporary shelters. Each one contained donated essentials—diapers, baby wipes, beauty masks—and something more: a handwritten letter from a student. These were not assignments. They were gestures of hospitality, written with heart and offered with dignity.
We are proud to stand beside a school that treats service not as a checkbox, but as a cornerstone. These values echo through everything we do—onstage, after school, in intergenerational gatherings. This was one day, but the impact continues.
Let’s keep building. Stay involved. Volunteer. Visit. Learn more about how Riverdale Y is growing civic leadership through creativity and care. Join me—and make your life here.
With gratitude,
