Almost 50 years to the day since the Yom Kippur War, once again the State of Israel finds itself at war and in its darkest days.
Amidst our sadness and horror, we proudly stand in solidarity with our family and friends in Israel, with Jews around the world, and with all who love humanity.
We are asked what we can do during this challenging time.
To support lifesaving efforts in the days and weeks ahead in Israel, we encourage you to please donate what you can. You can donate to the UJA Federation of New York’s emergency relief fund here. Additionally, The Times of Israel put together a roundup of many deserving organizations.
We continue to be vigilant about security and we are in constant communication with the NYPD and the local 50th precinct. We are part of the ongoing neighborhood patrols to keep the Jewish community safe.
At the conclusion of the annual Torah reading cycle on the holiday of Simchat Torah that we celebrated this past weekend, congregations recited the following line: chazak, chazak, v’nitchazek, be strong, be strong, and let us strengthen one another. During this time of immense challenge and need, may we find strength in our love and support for one another.
We hope and pray for peace.
