Not everything we set out to do goes as planned. Recently, we organized a major food pantry service project to honor the victims of 9/11—a project meant to bring our community together, support those in need, and reflect on the importance of service. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, logistics didn’t align, and we had to cancel the event.
It’s easy to share our successes, but the truth is, things don’t always work out. As a society, we often shy away from talking about failure, yet it’s a crucial part of the process. Setbacks happen—and they can make us stronger.
As we approach Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, it’s a time for reflection. These sacred days encourage us to examine the past year, including our failures, and consider how they’ve shaped us into more resilient, determined individuals.
This recent setback has renewed my commitment to working with our community, ensuring we bring food, essential goods, and connection to those facing loneliness. Even when plans don’t go as expected, our mission endures.
As we enter this season of reflection, I ask you: What are you determined to do this year to make a difference in our community? Together, we can face challenges head-on and continue building a stronger, more connected future—one step at a time.
Warm regards,
