Film Screening: Shared Legacies

Thursday, February 26, 2026
6:30 – 9:00 pm.
Riverdale Y 5625 Arlington Ave

Join us for a special screening of Shared Legacies, the powerful Spill the Honey documentary that explores the historic alliance between the Black and Jewish communities during the Civil Rights Movement. Through moving archival footage and personal testimonies, the film highlights the deep bonds, shared struggles, and enduring moral commitments that shaped a pivotal era in American history.

Following the screening, we will hold a meaningful conversation led by Rabbi Ya’aqov Walker, co-chair of the Charlotte Black/Jewish Alliance and visiting rabbi of Temple Emanuel in Gastonia. Rabbi Walker is deeply knowledgeable about both Black history and Judaism, and he brings a unique ability to illuminate the intersections between these narratives. A gifted leader and teacher, he creates space for honest dialogue, thoughtful reflection, and a deeper understanding of our shared legacy and collective future.
