Ballet Pre Ballet: ages 4 and 5 Dancers will begin to learn the basic principles and technique of ballet. They will learn positions and steps and execute basic ballet choreography to classical music. This will build the student’s ear for musicality and rhythm teaching strength and coordination.
Ballet: ages 6 and 7 Young dancers practice their strength and coordination through basic ballet movement. They will start at the barre and move into the center learning a brief ballet combination in each class. They will begin to learn turns and jumps as well as basic ballet steps and choreography.
Ballet Level 1: ages 8-10 For students who are beginners in ballet. Ballet technique and musicality are stressed in this class as the student learns how to express him or herself through dance. Grace, coordination, strength and musicality are the focus as they practice barre and ballet choreography.
Ballet Level 2: ages 8-10 For students who are continuing their studies in ballet. Ballet technique and musicality are stressed in this class as the student learns how to express him or herself through dance. Grace, coordination, strength and musicality are the focus as they practice barre and ballet choreography.
Ballet: Beg- Adv. Beg.ages 10-14 For students who are beginner- advanced beginner in ballet. Dancers build upon their ballet vocabulary as they build strength and skill. At this age and in this level, if students have previous ballet technique and experience, they may be moved up to a more advanced class. The dancers will continue to learn more advanced choreography and technique as they build upon their ballet foundation.
Ballet, Intermediate: ages 12+ (by invitation- students must have previous ballet experience and be admitted into this class by the teacher) For students who are continuing their ballet studies. Technique, strength, dynamics, self-expression and musicality are the focus of this class as dancers will learn combinations and perfect their technique. Choreography and self-expression are stressed along with building strength and technique.
Adult Ballet This class is for all types of dancers from professional looking to hone their technique to dancers practicing for the joy of dancing. All levels are welcome as this is an open class. Dynamics and self-expression as well as technique are stressed in this class.
Jazz/Musical Theater Musical Theatre: ages 6 and 7 This class combines jazz technique with traditional musical theatre song and dance. Students will learn choreography and numbers from the world of Broadway. A warm-up and technique will be combined with their musical theatre repertory.
Jazz/ Musical Theatre ages 8-11 Technique and performance elements will be the focus of this class. Students learn Jazz I basics like turns, jumps and isolations while learning choreography for jazz and musical theatre repertory.
Jazz/ Musical Theatre: ages 12 and up: Dancers will continue working on technique and performance skills with traditional rep. from original Broadway choreography combined with more advanced jazz movement. They will practice a full warm-up, across the floor technique and choreography.
Jazz/ Musical Theatre Intermediate/Advanced: ages 12+ (by invitation- students must have previous jazz experience and be admitted by teacher).This class is the stepping stone for int./advanced jazz students to elevate to a professional performing level. Intense work on technique, dynamics, interpretation and choreography will challenge the students and prepare them for performance whether they strive to practice for fun or in pursuit of a career. This is a skill and confidence-building class focused on the individual and what they bring to the work.
Adult Adv. Beg./Int. Jazz This class is for adult dancers who love to move and express themselves. Dancers in this class should have some previous dance experience. Jazz and modern vocabulary will be taught through a warm-up, across the floor exercises and choreography.
Hip Hop Hip Hop (4-5 year olds) This class gives young dancers a chance to express themselves to age-appropriate, contemporary music through dance, aerobic and pedestrian movement. They will feel like they are dancing in a Disney Channel music video by the end of this class while practicing basic coordination and rhythm technique.
Tap Tap ages 6-7 This class teaches the basics and fundamentals of tap technique. Students will learn basic tap vocabulary and rhythm while learning across the floor technique and combinations.
Tap ages 7-10 Students will learn rhythm and tap vocabulary while practicing a tap warm up, across the floor exercises and combinations. Coordination, rhythm, strength and musicality are stressed in this class.
Tap ages 10-13 Tap rhythm and vocabulary are practiced through across the floor exercises and combinations. Students will perfect their rhythm and tap technique while expressing their musicality and coordination.
Tap ages 13 and up Tap fundamentals are expanded with more complex rhythmic exercises, while practicing basic tap through across the floor exercises, warm-ups and combinations.
Contemporary Dance Contemporary Dance ages 9-12 Recently made popular on “So You Think You Can Dance”, Contemporary dance is a highly expressive dance form, which fuses jazz, modern and ballet to create innovative and fresh ways of moving the body. Dancers will explore new movement styles through guided improvisation and choreography. This class is uitable for beginning and experienced dancers and suggested for those students looking for a new and exciting challenge. Students learn dance technique, coordination and strength while expressing themselves through movement. Contemporary Dance ages 13+ Dancers will learn to express thoughts, ideas and emotions through innovative ways of moving the body. Creative Movement Preschool Movement 3 year olds with a parent/caregiver: Young dancers along with their parent or caregiver are introduced to creative movement. Students and parents are both active participants in dance, games, creative imagery and storytelling. This class is ideal for students who are not ready to be in class by themselves but are excited to learn and explore with their parent/caregiver.
Creative Movement ages 3-4 and 4-5 Coordination, musicality and strength are learned and practiced through creative imagery, storytelling, games, basic dance steps and positions. This is a great class for young dancers who love to move, dance and express themselves. This class is a wonderful introduction to dance and a great energy releaser!
